I am not sure if this has anything to do with the backups but just wanted to add it. I rebooted server, things seemed to be running smoother but symantec console still listed the main server as "threatened". It found a ton of W32.MyDoom viruses, I quarentined them and then deleted them - it was mostly spam mail junk. I opened up antivirus console for the server and it showed the server with a red x saying "Threat found'. When I looked at it there was an error, store.exe had crashed, there were tons of viruses caught by symantec antivirus. On my first day I was informed that nothing has been done maintenance wise to the server in some time. I have no clue if any of that is being written, I am guessing no. When I view the Job History the set detail information for each listed backup operation states that 0 bytes were written and gives this error "Error e00084f4 - unknown error" Unknown error is so specific lol.but thats what it says! So is it even backing anything up at all? The weird thing is the Job Summary is telling me the byte count is 37,147,961,307 bytes with 75,901 files and 7,763 directories. The error we're getting when we read the job log states "Device HP 1 reported error on request to write data to media".

I am not sure yet if the options are what is causing the problem. extFS for Windows by Paragon Software is a file system driver that can offer full read/write access to Linux-native Ext2 / Ext3 / Ext4 volumes under Microsoft Windows.

So being that I did not setup the media sets and all the backup options I really do not want to mess with them and change them. Server 2 merely runs quickbooks.Īs previously stated, I am new to backing up data and really have NO CLUE what VSS and AOFO actually do. Server 1 is also the server running backup exec from which we do our backups. Server 1 is running symantec antivirus console, IIS, MS exchange. We have 2 servers here, both running Windows Server 2003. I know my way around servers, networks pretty well but backup exec is new to me so please go easy on me! I've done the best I could to collect as much information as possible regarding the problem. I just replaced a guy who left the company I'm working at and have no experience using any backup programs.
